How Often Should You Clean Your BBQ Grill Cover?

Cleaning your barbecue griddle cover at least once a month (or more if used frequently) is the best way to preserve the longevity and aesthetic of your grill cover. 

To clean the heavy-duty canvas, use a soft cloth or brush to remove dust, debris, and pollen accumulated on the surface. If you’re dealing with mud or other stubborn accumulations, you may need to remove the canvas cover and wash it with mild soap and water. You only need a small amount of soap and gentle pressure to cleanse the surface; gentle cleaning practices are necessary to protect the canvases’ PU waterproof coating. After cleaning, rinse thoroughly and allow the fabric to dry completely before remounting on the grill. 

Although the PU coating on our large outdoor BBQ covers is highly resistant to mildew formation, it may be necessary to replace the mild soap cleansing step above with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar/warm water to eliminate any surface spores. Allow the solution to set on your flat-top barbecue cover for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and drying with a soft cloth. 

Here are some other upkeep considerations to bring out the best in your heavy-duty BBQ covers: 

• When not using the covers, store in a cool, well-ventilated, and dry place
• To protect the fabric, avoid storing heavy objects on top of the material
• Allow the cover to fully dry before storing or using it to prevent mildew and bacterial formation

Again, this secondary step is only a factor if you live in an area with high humidity or excessive precipitation.
